The calculator converts the input to uppercase, removes everything that is not a letter A through Z, and then adds each remaining letter's alphabet position. A simple check is CAB: C=3, A=1, and B=2, so the ordinal total is 6. The reduced value starts from that ordinal total and keeps summing digits until one digit remains. If the ordinal total is 84, the calculator reduces it as 8 + 4 = 12 and then 1 + 2 = 3. The Sumerian value is not calculated separately from scratch. It is the same ordinal total multiplied by 6, so an ordinal 84 becomes a Sumerian 504. Because non-letter characters are removed before counting, "room 101" produces the same letter math as "room".

Common mistakes
