About CalcTide

CalcTide is a free collection of more than 100 online calculators and utility tools for finance, health and fitness, education and math, business, construction, time and dates, unit conversion, writing, and tech. The product focus is simple: clear inputs, predictable outputs, and useful supporting guidance on every tool page — no signup, no paywall, and no data harvesting.

What CalcTide offers

Every calculator answers a practical question: What will my monthly mortgage payment be? How many calories do I burn in a day? What grade do I need on my final exam? How many cubic yards of concrete does my slab need? Each tool page pairs the calculator itself with a plain explanation of how the math works, the exact formula used, worked examples with real numbers, common mistakes to avoid, and answers to the questions people actually ask.

How we keep the math accurate

Accuracy is the entire value of a calculator site, so we treat it as an engineering problem, not a copywriting one:

  • Every formula is unit-tested. The calculation logic behind each tool is covered by an automated test suite — currently over 250 tests across more than 100 test files — that runs before any change ships. A tool cannot be published or updated if its formula tests fail.
  • Formulas come from standard sources. We implement widely accepted formulas (for example, standard loan amortization, the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for BMR, and standard unit-conversion factors) rather than inventing our own methods.
  • Assumptions are stated on the page. Where a calculation depends on a convention or a simplification — tax treatment, rounding, compounding frequency — the tool page says so explicitly instead of hiding it.
  • Each page shows when it was last updated. Tools are reviewed and re-verified on a recurring schedule, and the visible "Updated" date reflects the most recent review.

What our calculators are — and are not

CalcTide tools are estimation aids, not professional advice. Financial calculators do not account for every fee, tax rule, or lender-specific term; health calculators estimate population-level formulas that may not fit your individual situation. For sensitive topics such as finance and health, pages include assumptions, limitations, and disclaimers, and we encourage you to confirm important decisions with a qualified professional.

Privacy by default

Calculations run in your browser. We do not require accounts, we do not store what you type into a calculator, and we do not sell user data. See our privacy policy for the details.

Who builds CalcTide

CalcTide is built and maintained by MavenUp, a small product team that designs, codes, and tests every tool in-house. We continuously improve quality through recurring accuracy audits, internal linking checks, and content review workflows. Alongside the calculators, we publish guides that explain the concepts behind the math — how compound interest actually works, what a calorie deficit is, how GPA is calculated — so you can understand the answer, not just read it.
